About MaineGeneral Medical Center
The MGMC pharmacy department provides many services that help build the skills and abilities of a resident to become a professionally competent clinical pharmacist.
Some of the services our pharmacy department provides are:
•Anticoagulation monitoring
•Pharmacokinetics for vancomycin and aminoglycosides
•Renal dosage adjustment
•Therapeutic substitutions
•Cost-saving and cost-reduction recommendations
•Answering drug information inquires
The residency program emphasizes proficiency in clinical judgment, care plan development, knowledge of drug information resources, teaching skills and the ability to function as part of a health care team.
Upon successful completion of the MGMC PGY1 program the resident will be an independent pharmacist eligible for a PGY2 program, prepared to pursue an inpatient clinical patient care position or an adjunct faculty member.
