About Kent Hospital
Kent Hospital is a 359-bed, nonprofit, acute care hospital serving approximately 300,000 residents of Rhode Island. Kent Hospital is located on 57 acres in the Toll Gate section of Warwick (11 miles south of Providence) and is the second largest hospital in the state. Kent Hospital is a member of the Care New England Health System, which includes Butler, Kent, Women & Infants hospitals, the VNA of Care New England, Care New England Wellness Center and The Providence Center.
The Kent Hospital pharmacy department is comprised of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and administrative staff. The department practices under a synergistic centralized and decentralized model that provides a wide array of clinical services. In addition to order verification and medication review, clinical pharmacists also provide therapeutic drug monitoring and antimicrobial stewardship, participate in interdisciplinary rounding and various hospital committees, as well as respond to emergency code situations. Decentralized pharmacists are located within the intensive care unit, emergency department, and multiple medical floors. We also have pharmacy specialists who focus on infectious disease, transitions... of care, cardiology, and oncology. The goal of the PGY-1 pharmacy residency program is to immerse residents within all aspects of our continuously evolving department.
