About UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside (Shadyside campus) PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program
The UPMC Shadyside PGY1 Pharmacy Residency trains pharmacists for a wide array of practice and educational settings. UPMC Shadyside offers the breadth of a large academic tertiary care teaching hospital combined with the primary care provider base of a community hospital. Our unique longitudinal learning experiences for research and teaching provide additional structure and customized attention from experienced mentors. In addition to the required longitudinal teaching rotation focusing on clinical, provider, and experiential teaching, residents may elect to participate in the Mastery of Teaching program at the University of Pittsburgh. Shadyside residents will develop clinical skills in a variety of settings, with a high degree of rotation flexibility for personalization. Unique learning opportunities at UPMC Shadyside include 6-month longitudinal elective experiences in antimicrobial stewardship or ambulatory care family medicine, a wide variety of on-site block electives, as well as access to learning experiences throughout the larger UPMC system.
