About Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital
Hospital Overview
Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital is located in Lebanon, TN. VWCH is a 245-bed, two-campus acute health care facility. It is the seventh largest hospital in Middle Tennessee. They are the sole provider of health care service in Wilson County. Residents will participate in the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee, the Quality Committee and the precepting of pharmacy students.
Program Overview
The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency is a 12-month postgraduate program under candidate status by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. The program began in 2019 with one residency position. Required competency areas include the following: Patient care, Advancing Practice and Improving Patient Care, Leadership and Management, and Teaching, Education, and Dissemination of Knowledge.
Program Purpose
The purpose of the PGY1 residency is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
