About PGY1
The Western University of Health Sciences College of Pharmacy opened in 1996. The PharmD program prepares pharmacy professionals in a humanistic, interdisciplinary tradition to become competent, qualified practitioners. WesternU offers post-doctoral training programs in:
PGY1 Residencies: Acute Care, Ambulatory Care, Community Pharmacy, Geriatrics
PGY2 Residencies: Cardiology
Fellowships: Health Outcomes, Cardiology Outcomes, Pharmacoeconomics and Health Outcomes
Post-doctoral trainees have the opportunity to participate in didactic and experiential teaching, as well as assist in the development of clinical skills with pharmacy students in all phases of pharmacy school. WesternU has an innovative block structure in the curriculum, which allows students to focus on one topic at a time, and for faculty (and other lecturers) to focus their teaching time. WesternU is a leader in providing interprofessional education and teaching evidence-based clinical practice – trainees will have a chance to participate in both. All Post-Doctoral Trainees will have the opportunity to get a Research and Teaching Certificate.
WesternU programs include 15 days paid time off, health insurance..., parking, $1000 travel stipend, and 403(b) with employer contribution. Post-doctoral trainees are provided a faculty appointment within the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administration.
