About Berkeley Medical Center PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program
Berkeley Medical Center, a member of WVU Medicine, is a 165-bed not-for-profit community hospital located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. As the Eastern Panhandle grows, Berkeley Medical Center has been growing to meet the needs of the community. Berkeley Medical Center provides multiple service lines that are able to care for a variety of patients, including a neonatal in-tensive care unit and growing pediatric medicine service, cardiac cath lab, neurosurgery, orthopedics, oncology, behavioral health, emergency care, and critical care.
The beautiful Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia offers a variety of outdoor activities while still accessible to larger metropolitan areas including Washington DC and Baltimore. Berkeley Medical Center is located in Berkeley County, West Virginia which is part of the Shenandoah Valley. This area is rich in Civil War history, with historic battlefields nearby, and has everything from outdoor activities including river rafting and zip-lining in Harper’s Ferry to contemporary theater festivals in Shepherdstown, West Virginia and Winchester, Virginia.
The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program at Berkeley Medical Center offers a wide variety ...of learning experiences that allow the resident to train and develop expertise in direct patient care activities. The 12-month program is designed to allow residents to participate in all aspects of comprehensive pharmacy services, including multidisciplinary rounding, pharmacokinetic consultations, clinical pathway development, education/teaching, oncology infusion services, pediatric care, and emergency medicine management. Organized rotations will provide structure for training in specialized care areas after an initial 6-week orientation period.
