About Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma
The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is a federally recognized tribe whose service territory covers approximately 11,000 square miles in 10 1/2 counties in rural southeastern Oklahoma. The Nation is comprised of nearly 200,000 members worldwide, and it is the third largest tribe in the United States. The Choctaw Nation is led by the vision and guidance of Chief Gary Batton, Assistant Chief Jack Austin Jr., and 12 Tribal Council members. The Choctaw Nation plays a significant role in the growth of Indian Country and all of southeastern Oklahoma.
In 1999, the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma was the first tribe to build its own hospital with its own funding. Located in Talihina, OK, the Choctaw Nation Healthcare Center is a 140,000 square foot health facility with 44 hospital beds for inpatient care and 52 exam rooms. This Healthcare Center is the center of health care services covering 10 ½ counties of southeastern Oklahoma.
In addition to the hospital, the facility houses Dental, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Primary Medical Care, Surgical, Emergency Room Services, Women’s Health, Pediatrics, Podiatry, Behavioral Health, Women’s and Men’s Substance Abuse facilities and Ophthalmology. Also on campus is a Diabetic Wellness facility with a fitness center.
