About Temple University School of Pharmacy
Temple University School of Pharmacy (TUSP) has a rich history of post-doctoral training programs for pharmacists. Our faculty have been preceptors for the PGY1 Pharmacy Residencies of the Temple University Health System since they were established in 1969, and directing PGY2 residencies since 2007.
Temple University School of Pharmacy is an ideal place to complete a pharmacy residency. We are located on the Temple University Health Sciences Campus (HSC)(map), adjacent to Temple University Hospital (TUH) and its attendant clinics. Many of our faculty have practice sites at TUH and work in collaboration with clinical pharmacists and other practitioners there and the setting of the HSC allows for a combined educational and clinical experience that is difficult to replicate in other environments. The partnership allows the resident to participate in diverse clinical and educational opportunities between the two institutions. Our setting, resources, and focus makes the TUSP residency programs particularly suited for candidates with an interest in clinical and didactic teaching, as the role of the pharmacist as an educator is emphasized in each.
Temple University Hospital (TUH)... is a 732-bed tertiary care university hospital located on the Health Sciences Campus of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. TUH serves one of our nation’s most economically challenged and diverse urban populations. It has 99 intensive care unit beds, serves over 85,000 patient visits annually in the emergency department, and is a Level 1 trauma center. TUH has the designation as a comprehensive stroke center, certified by Joint Commission and runs the nation’s largest lung transplant program. Temple University Hospital is also a center for abdominal organ and heart transplant programs. It is the primary clinical teaching site for the Schools of Pharmacy and Medicine and is adjacent to both facilities. Located on the campus are the Ambulatory Care Clinics and within the hospital is the Temple Outpatient Pharmacy.
