The Pharmacy department at EAMC employs more than 75 pharmacists and support staff. The decentralized model provides 24-hour pharmacy services to ensure safe and efficient medication use in all patient care areas. Through collaboration with other health care providers and support from administration, the Pharmacy department has expanded to 10 pharmacy satellites, including presence in intensive care units, emergency department, all medical floors, surgery, and outpatient infusion at EAMC.
EAMC pharmacists provide a wide variety of clinical service lines including therapeutic drug monitoring services, parenteral nutrition, electrolyte repletion, antimicrobial stewardship, anticoagulation management, code blue response, and transitions of care. Additionally, pharmacists collaborate with health care providers within other EAMC departments and clinics, such as the Diabetes and Nutrition Center, East Alabama Rheumatology Center, and the Employee Wellness Clinic to optimize patient care for both employees and the community. The Pharmacy department is committed to furthering the profession of pharmacy and serves as an Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience and an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience site for Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy.
