Serving the community since 1976, Northside Hospital is a 288-bed hospital, offering a full range of services including comprehensive and interventional stroke care, preventative and corrective cardiac care, full-service orthopedic and spine treatment an ER 24/7®, and general surgery. As one of the first hospitals in the area to achieve Atrial Fibrillation Certification (SCPC), our technologically advanced hospital allows our highly skilled physicians, nursing, and caregivers to serve our growing community. Northside Hospital is the first nationally recognized Comprehensive Stroke Center in Pinellas County and nationally recognized for quality and safety by earning an ‘A’ Patient Safety grade from the Leapfrog Group. With campus-based specialized services including the Tampa Bay Heart Institute and the Neuroscience Institute for Interventional Neuroradiology and neurologic care, Northside Hospital continues to enhance and expand its services to better serve the community.

The PGY1 Residency Program participates in the ASHP Resident Matching program. Program applications are available and accessible through the Northside Hospital Residency website. The residency program participates in the ASHP residency showcase as the primary recruiting forum and uses the online admissions management software platform, PhORCAS to support the residency recruiting process. The deadline for receipt of application materials is January 3rd. Below are the criteria and steps used in the selection of residents:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Applicants must be graduates or candidates for graduation from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited degree program (or one in process of pursuing accreditation)
• Licensed or eligible to apply for a license to practice pharmacy in the state of Florida. All being selected residents MUST be licensed in the state of Florida within 90 days from the start of the residency.
• Participate in the ASHP Residency Matching Program
• Completed application submitted to PhORCAS prior to January 3, and include:
  • Letter of intent
  • Copy of pharmacy school transcript
  • Three professional references/evaluations submitted via PhORCAS
  • Curriculum vitae
