The informatics residency (PGY2) is a 12-month program designed to foster knowledge and appreciation for the potential advantages and limitations of new technology used to gather and disseminate information within the practice of pharmacy in a vertically and horizontally integrated health care system.

Applicants must be a Doctor of Pharmacy degree graduate of an accredited school or college of pharmacy, have completed a pharmacy practice residency (PGY1) or possess equivalent years clinical experience in pharmacy and the information technology field and be eligible for pharmacist licensure in Virginia. If accepted into the program, the individual must obtain a valid license to practice pharmacy in the State of Virginia.
