Located on the Gulf Cost of South Texas, Corpus Christi is a city with a population of approximately 330,000, miles of beaches, and an average daily temperature of 72?F, which offers several popular tourist attractions. Within our institutions, you will find a wealth of information to assimilate and opportunity to be taught by a diverse, qualified, experienced, and dedicated faculty. It is a rich environment to fulfill the rigorous program outlined by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, for completion of their residency program. Residents in our program go through strong didactic as well as practical experiences during their tenure. Our residency program is housed under the umbrella of the Graduate Medical Education program at Corpus Christi Medical Center. Bill Poulos PharmD, BCPS Residency Program Director About the Corpus Christi Medical Center Residency Program At Corpus Christi Medical Center, the educational training and environment prepares our residents for a lifetime of learning. This program is designed for the graduate who intends to pursue hospital pharmacy, clinical pharmacy practice, or a PGY2 specialty pharmacy residency. Corpus Christi Medical Center is a training site for pharmacy, nursing, and medical students, residents, and fellows in cardiology, pulmonary, and critical care. Our mission is to graduate residents with the experience necessary to practice in a wide variety of hospital, and clinic-based settings and pursue additional specialist training. Our program prepares the pharmacy resident to eventually become board certified, through the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (BPS). We are affiliated with the Texas A&M Health Science Center and the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. Pharmacy Residency Program Corpus Christi Medical Center is pleased to announce its American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Accredited Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) pharmacy residency program. Purpose Statement PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. A solid and excellent clinical and pharmacy operation foundation is developed through robust clinical experiences in areas such as cardiology, pulmonary - critical care, emergency medicine, infectious disease, antimicrobial stewardship, hematology-oncology, neonatal intensive care, internal medicine, teaching and clinical research. These patient-centered, clinical, dynamic leadership, informatics, and management rotations are offered throughout our facilities. Pharmacy Student Rotations Corpus Christi Medical Center is a rotation site for pharmacy students. We are currently affiliated with Texas A&M Health Science Center, and the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. We accept 2nd year pharmacy students for IPPE rotations and 4th year pharmacy students for APPE rotations. During these rotations pharmacy students have the opportunity to work with residents while rotating in areas such as cardiology, critical care, trauma, anesthesia, women’s services, emergency medicine, infectious disease, antimicrobial stewardship, hematology-oncology, neonatal intensive care, internal medicine, pharmacy operations, health-system, informatics, and management.
