The PGY1 residency program at Mercy Health — St. Anne Hospital builds upon Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. Our program offers opportunity for growth while providing guidance and mentoring needed to become an excellent clinical and compassionate pharmacist. Residents work with staff to customize their experience with a mix of required and elective rotations. Residents take an active role in precepting pharmacy students and a Teaching and Learning Certificate Program is offered in collaboration with Ohio Northern University.
Located in Toledo, Ohio, Mercy Health — St. Anne Hospital is a 128-bed hospital that provides high-quality health care and offers a variety of services. As a part of Bon Secours Mercy Health system, St. Anne has a small community hospital feel, but is actively involved in world class clinical collaboration.
Required 1-month rotations (8):
• Orientation • Internal medicine • Advanced internal medicine • Critical care • Infectious diseases • Pharmacy practice management • Medication accuracy/Transitions of Care • Research Project/Staffing
Elective 1-month rotations (4):
• Advanced critical care • Antimicrobial stewardship • Cardiology • Emergency medicine • Anticoagulation clinic (one month) • Outpatient medication management • Psychiatric medicine (Mercy Health —St. Charles Hospital) • Oncology (Mercy Health — St. Vincent Hospital) • Population health
Longitudinal Required Rotations:
• Inpatient pharmacy staffing • Anticoagulation clinic • Research project • Teaching and Learning Certificate through Ohio Northern University
• Estimated Stipend of $51,500 (includes travel) • Ten (10) paid vacation days • Three (3) paid interview days • Seven (7) paid holidays • Medical/dental insurance • Professional leave to attend ASHP Midyear and Ohio Pharmacy Resident Conference
