About Columbia VA Health Care System
The Columbia VA Health Care System is comprised of the Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, SC and seven community-based outpatient clinics throughout the state. The system provides comprehensive health care to more than 80,000 veterans and conducts over 1 million outpatient visits each year.
The Dorn VA Medical Center is a 200-bed teaching facility with an average daily census of 130 acute and extended care patients. At the hospital, many specialty services are provided including: cardiac, oncologic, and psychiatric services; many types of surgery are performed; and four long-term care units and one hospice unit are housed and operated.
The hospital is affiliated with the UofSC School of Medicine, which shares its campus with the hospital. The Pharmacy Service has affiliations with Colleges of Pharmacy at the UofSC, South University, and Presbyterian College.
