The Post-Graduate Year-One (PGY-1) Pharmacy Practice Residency Program builds on prior Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education. This program aims to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and prepared for Post-Graduate Year-Two (PGY-2) pharmacy residency training.
The PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency Program at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Westover Hills provides a wide range of clinical experiences, with a focus on inpatient acute care in a community hospital setting. This program is designed to develop strong, competent clinicians and educators who can practice independently in a hospital setting. Rotations with a clinical focus are offered for the resident to gain knowledge of and expertise in pharmacotherapy applicable to various disease states and patient populations.
About the Residency Program
CHRISTUS Santa Rosa - Westover Hills Hospital is an ASHP-accredited program. We are currently recruiting for one PGY-1 Pharmacy Resident. The resident will have the opportunity to rotate through a variety of settings in the hospital including internal medicine, critical care, emergency medicine, and transitions-of-care. Longitudinal experiences include development and completion of a major research project and participating in weekly Pharmacotherapy Rounds along with other local pharmacy residents. The resident will also have the opportunity to participate in in the University of Texas at Austin – College of Pharmacy’s Teaching and Leadership Fellows Program.
To be considered for an interview, applicants must have:
Graduated, or are anticipated to graduate, from an ACPE accredited pharmacy school
A Texas pharmacy license or be eligible to obtain Texas pharmacy licensure by September 30th of the residency year
Participate in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Resident Matching Program
