Catawba Valley Medical Center (CVMC) is a 258-bed hospital in Hickory, North Carolina built in 1967. It is the region’s largest not-for-profit community hospital. CVMC’s goal is to offer high-quality healthcare services from a caring staff dedicated to improving the collective health of the community. The hospital exists to heal and comfort patients, to promote and foster a healthier Catawba County and to assure access to healthcare to all who need it regardless of their ability to pay. Catawba Valley Medical Center was the 32nd hospital in the nation to receive Magnet recognition as part of the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program. This voluntary credentialing program recognizes hospitals for their excellence in nursing. This credential is the highest honor an organization can receive for professional nursing practice. CVMC is the first and only hospital in North Carolina to receive this prestigious recognition five times.
