Residency Showcase Program Listings

St. Luke's is proud to offer an ASHP-accredited one-year postgraduate PGY2 pharmacotherapy residency program. The program is designed with a focus on the pharmacotherapy of our patients as they transition though various settings of care. These transitions include admission into the hospital, transfers among inpatient care units, and discharge from the emergency department, outpatient surgery, or hospital stay back to the care of their primary care provider. St. Luke's residency program provides the resident with an opportunity to further develop their skills in both inpatient and ambulatory patient care. Rotations include orientation, acute care I, acute care II, pharmacy management, ambulatory care, research, academia, and emergency department transitions of care. Residents are also involved with pharmacy students at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy Duluth Campus by working as teaching assistants and in opportunities for additional teaching experiences. If desired, the resident may also complete a teaching certificate.

Projects

Each resident will learn project management skills while completing one major research project. This project will focus on one specific aspect of patient transitions of care. Results of the project will be presented at a Pharmacy Residency Conference and a manuscript will be written for the project. Residents will also complete several smaller projects as part of their various rotations.

Staffing

Residents will work every fourth weekend, working as a clinical pharmacist.  The staffing commitment begins in late August and runs through the end of the residency year.

Application Process

• Prerequisites: Pharm.D degree and licensure as a pharmacist in Minnesota no later than September 1, completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency.
• Requirements: Enrollment in ASHP National Matching Service. Applicants must submit the following through the Pharmacy Online Residency Application Service (PhORCAS): three letters of recommendation, curriculum vitae, official college transcript, letter of intent, and project or presentation.
