SRD is part of CommonSpirit Health, which operates 140 hospitals and more than 1,500 care sites across 21 states, with a team of over 150,000 employees and 25,000 physicians.
The PGY2 Infectious Diseases (ID) Residency at SRD provides diverse training opportunities while collaborating with four infectious diseases pharmacists and three infectious diseases physicians within our institution. Our PGY2 ID residency program is designed to transition PGY1 residency graduates from general practice to specialized practice focused on the care of patients with infectious diseases. Residency graduates are equipped to participate as integral members of interdisciplinary health care teams caring for patients with infectious diseases and assuming responsibility for their pharmaceutical care. In addition, our PGY2 residency will provide residents various opportunities to function independently by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings.
Core rotations include; Orientation, Infection Control and Microbiology, Antimicrobial Stewardship I and II, General ID, Outpatient ID Clinic, Outpatient STD/HIV Clinic, and Research. A research project suitable for publication is required. An optional teaching certificate is offered to those without prior certification. Additional teaching opportunities are available through Roseman University of Health Sciences College of Pharmacy.
