PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at EIRMC is a 12-month program that provides outstanding clinical practice opportunities in acute patient care settings. Pharmacy residents actively participate in multidisciplinary rounds and closely work with providers, internal/family medicine residents, nurses and other healthcare professionals. Residents collaborate with Idaho State University clinical pharmacy faculty to develop and implement a quality-improvement project, provide didactic teaching in the pharmacy program, precept APPE students, prepare for a board-certification exam and earn a teaching certificate. The residency is accredited with the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP Code: 83007).
The primary training site for the residency is Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC). EIRMC is one of the 187 hospitals comprising Nashville-based HCA Healthcare, one of the nation's leading providers of healthcare services located in 20 states and the United Kingdom. With 318 beds and an average census of 200, EIRMC is the region’s largest acute healthcare facility and tertiary referral center housing Idaho's only burn center. Our hospital provides care to patients residing within eastern Idaho, southern Montana, western Wyoming and the Dakotas. Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) is a 318-bed region’s largest acute care healthcare facility and tertiary referral center located in Idaho Falls. With its average census of 200, EIRMC provides care for patients residing in eastern Idaho, southern Montana, western Wyoming, and the Dakotas.
EIRMC is a Level II Trauma and Burn Center, a Certified Stroke Center, with Level III NICU and Level I ICU. It is a training site for internal medicine and family medicine residents. EIRMC employs 30 clinical pharmacists who participate in multidisciplinary rounds and provide excellence in patient care as part of the decentralized pharmacy model.
Each pharmacy resident is eligible for medical, dental and vision benefits, qualifies to accrue vacation and sick leave, and will receive financial assistance for professional meeting attendance.
