Our PGY1 residency program builds upon the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives. Residents who successfully complete this PGY1 residency program will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education, and be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS), and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies.
The Medical Center at Bowling Green’s post-graduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency training program provides organized and directed clinical pharmacy training in a rapidly advancing academic medical environment. The program is designed to develop the knowledge and skills of the resident in various areas including: clinical pharmacy practice, medication therapy management, leadership, communication, practice management, critical thinking, time management, research, and teaching. The program offers the resident the opportunity, encouragement, and support to develop their professional expertise as a practitioner.
Our PGY-1 residency program is affiliated with the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy and is seeking accreditation from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College or School of Pharmacy
Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Kentucky

The Medical Center at Bowling Green, a 337-bed community-based academic medical center, is the flagship hospital for Med Center Health. Our organization includes five acute care hospitals, a long term acute care hospital, more than 30 clinics, a long term rehab and specialty care facility, and a community retail pharmacy. Med Center Health employs over 30 pharmacists and nearly 70 physicians, both internal medicine practitioners and specialists.
