The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake provides flexible, comprehensive training in a variety of areas. Rotations and activities are tailored to meet the needs and interests of individual residents, with a key focus on inpatient/acute care practice. Residents are involved in direct patient care, medication use policy, administration, medication safety, research, and management of medical emergencies. Residents will obtain a teaching certificate through participation in the University of Houston College of Pharmacy Teaching and Scholarship in Academia Program and may assist with precepting IPPE and APPE pharmacy students. Research projects are presented as posters and/or platform presentations at national and regional conferences. Professional development and leadership are emphasized to ensure confidence and competence upon program completion.
Required Core Learning Experiences: orientation, cardiology, critical care, infectious diseases, internal medicine, pharmacy administration and operations
Required Longitudinal Experiences: grand rounds, medication safety, professional development and leadership, research, staffing, teaching and scholarship

Special Requirements for Acceptance:Graduates or candidates for graduation from an ACPE-accredited degree program (or FPGEC certificate from NABP), eligible for pharmacist licensure in the state of Texas by program start date (licensure expected within 60 days of start), participation in NMS-ASHP Pharmacy Resident Matching Program, application materials must be submitted through PhORCAS (including CV, letter of intent, 3 letters of recommendation, and official college of pharmacy transcript).
