This twelve-month Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) pharmacy residency program is accredited by the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) and offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in a variety of pharmacy practice areas within Kaiser Permanente.

* PGY1 Program Purpose: PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
Kaiser Permanente Mid- Atlantic States PGY-1 Pharmacy Residents focus on ambulatory care within an integrated health care system. During the residency program, residents will integrate clinical, administrative and leadership skills and cultivate a philosophy of practice that embraces being responsible to their patients, their fellow healthcare providers, the organization and the public for optimal drug therapy outcomes.

Become a member of the Regional Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee meeting through development and presentation of comprehensive drug reviews
Assist in educating pharmacy students through journal club and other group activities
Develop and present continuing education programs to health care providers, team members, as well as professional and community organizations
Conduct population-based projects
