Cookeville Regional Medical Center (CRMC) offers a Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency Program that will build clinical and leadership skills that are essential for pharmacists to efficiently and effectively operate in today’s healthcare environment. The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program offered at CRMC is a 12 month, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP)accredited program. The residency program was initiated in 2011 and is currently offering two positions. Intensive and varied experiences are offered in critical care, internal medicine, practice management, metabolic support, oncology, emergency medicine, ambulatory care, medication safety, drug information, anticoagulation, infectious disease, cardiology, and informatics.
This position is responsible for pharmaceutical care of patients including all age groups (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics). Applicant is also responsible for participating in pharmacy quality improvement activities, teaching pharmacotherapeutics, and community medication education classes. Prospective resident will use knowledge and critical judgment to make decisions concerning patient drug therapy. Candidate should demonstrate knowledge of the psychosocial needs, clinical assessment implications, and/or consequences of technology upon all age groups.
Intensive and varied experiences offered in internal medicine, critical care, infectious diseases, metabolic support, drug information, cardiology, anticoagulation, practice management, medication safety, pharmacokinetics, oncology, emergency medicine, ambulatory care, and informatics. Residents will participate in educating providers, students, patients, and the public throughout the facility and in the community. Faculty preceptors are affiliated with the University of Tennessee, Lipscomb University, and Union University. Strong, prepared, and dedicated clinical practitioners and leaders will be molded at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
