The PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency program at Holy Name offers 2 residents an opportunity to immerse themselves in the practice of pharmacy within a unique community hospital setting where ingenuity, efficiency, and out-of-the-box thinking are highly valued and critical to success. This structured 12-month program provides comprehensive training in all aspects of hospital and ambulatory care clinical practice. The goal of the program is to develop the knowledge, skills, and philosophy required to become an excellent clinical pharmacist and leader. The residency curriculum is customizable to the resident’s specific goals. The residents will be involved in many decision-making processes as part of leadership training: improvement of the program, operational and clinical processes, accreditation survey preparation, residency showcases, open houses, community outreach, committee meetings, etc. The residents will also provide educational lectures for clinicians, and co-precept pharmacy students.
Core Learning Experiences Include: Orientation, Infectious Diseases, Transitions of Care, Ambulatory Care, Internal Medicine, Pain & Palliative Care. Longitudinal experiences: Project (Research/QI, MUE etc), Leadership/Practice Management (including Teaching Certificate Program at Rutgers University, Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy), Service Commitment (staffing every other weekend).
Possess a PharmD from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy
Education (ACPE) accredited school or college of pharmacy
Be eligible for licensure in New Jersey
