PGY2 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency training to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives for advanced practice areas. Residents who successfully complete PGY2 residency programs are prepared for advanced patient care or other specialized positions, and board certification in the advanced practice area, if available
Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (formerly known at Saint Barnabas Medical Center) is part of RWJBarnabas Health, the most comprehensive health care delivery system in New Jersey serving over 5 million people.
This residency is designed to develop specialized clinicians who serve the needs of older adults in the acute and ambulatory care settings. Learning experiences include Geriatrics, Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Geriatrics Ambulatory Care, Palliative Care, Movement Disorders, and others. The resident will receive BLS and ACLS certification, participate in codes, complete 10 community outreach projects per year, one medication use evaluation (MUE), and one scholarly research project during their residency year. There are opportunities for precepting and teaching pharmacy students and PGY1 residents on clinical rotations as well as obtaining a professional academic teaching certificate from the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University.
Requirements:
Graduation from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree
Completion of (or completing) an ASHP accredited or candidate-status PGY1 Pharmacy Residency
