The Methodist Charlton Pharmacy Residency Program is an ASHP-accredited PGY1 12 month residency program. We provides a variety of exceptional clinical rotations and services, including:

In addition to the learning opportunities based in the above clinical services, our residents will get experience with pharmacy-to-dose protocols, narrow therapeutic index drug monitoring protocols, collaborative practice agreements in both Ambulatory Care and Emergency Medicine settings for chronic disease state management, antimicrobial stewardship and transitions of care. Additionally, the resident will get involved in several hospital committees, including the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee.
As a pharmacy resident at MCMC, you will be part of a department with a family culture that strives to optimize and advance the care of our patients. The purpose of our program is to build upon each resident’s pharmacy education foundation and develop a diverse skillset for clinical pharmacists capable of caring for patients in a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient acuity levels. With a variety of pharmacy roles including several pharmacy specialists, decentralized clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and medication reconciliation technicians, you will be a part of a department that is highly integrated as part of the care team.

In addition to the learning opportunities based in the above clinical services, our residents interact with students from several colleges of pharmacy across the State of Texas. Residents will also earn a teaching certificate in collaboration with the University of Texas at Tyler during their residency year.
Clinical rotations in the 12-month Pharmacy Residency Program at Methodist Charlton are offered in a variety of clinical areas. The resident's responsibilities include:
•Working collaboratively with interdisciplinary team to provide optimal patient care
•Providing medication therapy management including pharm...acokinetics consults
•Educating the interdisciplinary team on drug therapy
•Presenting various journal clubs, case presentations, and in-services
Other responsibilities include:
•Completion of a major research project that is presented at the ASHP mid-year clinical meeting and Alcáldé Southwest Leadership Conference
•Completion of a medication utilization evaluation
•Presenting various journal clubs, case presentations, and in-services
•Obtainment of preceptor license from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
•Opportunity to earn a teaching certificate through University of Texas at Tyler Fisch College of Pharmacy
