At Prisma Health Richland Hospital, we have offered an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists-accredited residency program in pharmacy since 1972. Our program is located at Prisma Health Richland, a 641-bed regional teaching hospital, in Columbia, South Carolina, that provides care for patients from every county in the state. We currently offer two PGY1 pharmacy residencies and PGY2 pharmacy residencies that focus in cardiology, critical care, infectious diseases, internal medicine, pediatrics, and health-system pharmacy administration and leadership.
Our PGY1 residencies are designed for students to become general practitioners and fully-integrated members of the interdisciplinary pharmacy, able to make medication recommendations in a variety of clinical settings. Training focuses on developing abilities to understand a wide range of diseases and disorders that occur in many patient types.
Our ASHP-accredited PGY1 Residency 37200 (inpatient) at Prisma Health Richland is designed to transition a pharmacy student to a general practitioner. PGY1 residency graduates exit our program equipped to be fully integrated members of the interdisciplinary health care team, able to make medication recommendations in a variety of clinical settings. Training focuses on developing the resident with the capabilities to understand a wide range of diseases and disorders that occur in many patient types. The residency is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
Residents in our ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency 37013 (outpatient) at Prisma Health Richland focus on growth as a practitioner in outpatient and transitions of care settings. As part of Prisma Health’s ongoing pursuit of excellence, our primary care practices are accredited by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as Patient-Centered Medical Homes and our residents will spend dedicated time in these practice settings.
