The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program at Hillcrest Hospital South is an ASHP-accredited, one-year postgraduate training program. The PGY1 residency is designed to build on the traditional PharmD education program to foster the development of competent, independent clinical pharmacists able to provide patient-centered care in an acute care setting.
Hillcrest Hospital South in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is a 180-bed community hospital, nestled in the heart of Oklahoma’s “Green Country.” Our hospital is a growing facility with an outstanding staff. We are designated as a Level II Primary Stroke Center and were awarded the American College of Cardiology Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Primary PCI. Our facility offers a wide variety of specialties, including both invasive and non-invasive cardiology, critical care, infectious disease, orthopedics and surgical services.
Our residents prepare for a role as a clinical pharmacist providing direct patient care or for a specialty PGY2 by developing strong leadership skills, excellent interdisciplinary communication and the independence to operate within a wide variety of clinical and pharmacy settings. Residents have opportunities for interacting and teaching pharmacy students from both Southwestern Oklahoma State University and University of Oklahoma colleges of pharmacy. The mission of the Department of Pharmacy at Hillcrest South is to deliver safe and compassionate care for our patients in an atmosphere of mutual respect, individual accountability and social responsibility, and serves as the basis for our practice and education philosophy.
Essential functions of the resident:
Patient medication reviews, supports clinical activities including dosing services, code response and rounds attendance
Participates in clinical pharmacy research projects and quality assurance projects
Provides educational programs for health care professionals, students and members
Provides distribution services and patient education

Resident applicants are required to submit an application via the PHORCAS system including curriculum vitae, letter of intent, official academic transcript(s) and three letters of recommendation (clinical rotation preceptors preferred).
Candidate must have successfully completed a PharmD degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy, be eligible for licensure in the state of Oklahoma, participate in an onsite interview, and pass post-match background check, employment physical and drug screen.
