Millcreek Community Hospital (MCH), the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging and the LECOM School of Pharmacy offer a Post-Graduate Year One (PGY1) Residency and a Post-Graduate Year Two (PGY2) Residency in Geriatrics. Both the PGY1 and PGY2 are 12-month programs accredited by the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP). The residency programs provide substantial teaching opportunities through the LECOM School of Pharmacy, including the option of completing the LECOM Master's of Science in Medical Education (MSMEd) program or teaching certificate program. Additionally, residents have the opportunity to work with other health care professionals in a multidisciplinary environment within the LECOM Health system, including Millcreek Community Hospital, Corry Memorial Hospital, the LECOM Senior Living Centers, and the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging.

Residency Overview
Millcreek Community Hospital (MCH) and the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) School of Pharmacy offer both a Post-Graduate Year One Residency and a Post-Graduate Year Two Residency in Geriatrics. Each program is a 12 month program established to meet their respective American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) standards. The residency programs provide substantial teaching opportunities through the LECOM School of Pharmacy, as well as the opportunity to work with other health care professionals in a multidisciplinary environment within the LECOM Health system.
LECOM Health
LECOM Health is an academic health system focused on providing exceptional care and promoting wellness to our patients and the community. Within the LECOM Health network are two acute-care hospitals, Millcreek Community Hospital, and Corry Memorial Hospital. Millcreek Community hospital is LECOM’s acute care, teaching hospital located less than a mile from LECOM’s main campus in Erie, Pennsylvania. The facility is recognized as a regional leader in behavioral health, senior services and geriatric medicine, and medical education. LECOM Health recently acqu...ired the Corry Memorial Hospital, which is an acute care critical access hospital located in Corry, Pennsylvania.
In addition to acute care services, LECOM Health also encompasses multiple primary and multi-specialty outpatient practices, as well as various long-term care facilities in the Erie area. One of these facilities, the LECOM Senior Living Center, is a state of the art 144 bed, long-term care facility located just south of Millcreek Community Hospital. The building also houses offices for outpatient geriatric healthcare services, a dedicated rehabilitation area, a full-service pharmacy, spa, beauty salon, and restaurant, and is connected to MCH via an indoor corridor.
LECOM
The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine is the nation’s largest medical college, consisting of three campuses: The main campus in Erie, Pennsylvania, and branch campuses in Bradenton, Florida, and Greensburg, Pennsylvania. The college offers doctoral degrees in osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry. Included in the School of Pharmacy are three pathways; the three-year accelerated program in Erie, a traditional four-year pathway in Bradenton, and a four-year distance education pathway. The majority of resident teaching takes place in the accelerated program, however there may also be teaching opportunities in the distance education pathway.
Erie Area
Erie is Pennsylvania’s fourth largest city and is a four-season tourist destination and commercial/industrial hub between Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Buffalo. Erie’s location along the shores of Lake Erie provides a plethora of outdoor activities throughout the year, including the region’s largest attraction, Presque Isle State Park. In addition to outdoor recreation, Erie is also home to various parks, museums, theatres, and sports teams.
