Riverview Health is a 52-week, ASHP-accredited Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency Program. Riverview Health is comprised of a full-service, 156-bed hospital in Noblesville, a 16-bed hospital in Westfield, as well as freestanding combined ER and urgent care facilities. Riverview Health is located between Butler University, Purdue University, and Manchester University Colleges of Pharmacy. The purpose of our PGY1 pharmacy residency program is to build upon the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes by contributing to the development of pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, abilities, skills, and competencies as defined in each learning experience. Residents who successfully complete our PGY1 residency program will be skilled in providing diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education and be prepared to seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (BCPS) and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies. Our primary goal is to develop well-rounded pharmacy practitioners prepared to optimize drug therapy in patients with a wide range of conditions.

In addition, the Riverview Health PGY1 Residency Program requires all residents to obtain the following certifications in the first half of the residency year:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification
Teaching Experiences
As part of the Academia longitudinal learning experience, residents may choose to earn a teaching certificate from the Indiana Pharmacy Teaching Certificate Program (IPTeC). Residents will practice delivering didactic lectures to second and/or third year pharmacy students as well as leading therapeutic patient cases at Butler University. In addition, residents will be given the opportunity to precept APPE students throughout the residency year and demonstrate their ability to educate other members of the health care team, patients and the community on drug-related issues.
By the end of the residency program, our residents will be confident and highly skilled practitioners equipped with the knowledge and abilities to face the challenges of our ever-evolving pharmacy practices. They will display professional maturity and cultural diversity by monitoring their own performance, establishing a personal philosophy of practice and demonstrating leadership and commitment to the pharmacy profession.
