University Health Truman Medical Center is an academic health center providing accessible, state-of-the-art quality healthcare to the Kansas City community and beyond. It services a diverse patient population, has a level 1 trauma center, and is the busiest adult emergency room in the Kansas City metropolitan area with more than 60,000 visits a year. 

This program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in advanced or specialized practice. Residents who successfully complete this program will possess competencies that qualify them for clinical pharmacist and/or faculty positions and will position them to be eligible for attainment of board certification in critical care pharmacy.

Rotations:

• Required rotations: Critical Care I, Emergency Medicine I, Infectious Diseases, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Trauma and Surgical Intensive Care I, Pharmacy Practice Management and Leadership Development, Longitudinal Presentation Experience, Longitudinal Critical Care Research, Staffing, and Trauma and Code Blue Response
• Elective rotations: Community Critical Care, Critical Care II, Emergency Medicine II, Neurosciences Intensive Care, Pain Management, Acute Inpatient Adult Psychiatry, Acute Inpatient Older Adult Psychiatry II, Trauma and Surgical Intensive Care II, and teaching certificate

Requirements:

• Completion of a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency from an accredited program
• Letter of interest
• 3 letters of reference using standard reference form in PhORCAS
• College transcript
• Missouri license (or eligible)
• Curriculum Vitae
• Written case presentation (PowerPoint saved in 6 slides per page PDF and submitted to PhORCAS). The PowerPoint will be presented during the interview (no longer than 15 minutes).
