UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital is a 352-bed, full-service, non-profit hospital serving the greater Rockford region, northern Illinois, and southern Wisconsin. UW Health SwedishAmerican is also a teaching hospital that hosts the University of Illinois College of Medicine's residency program. Clinical pharmacists are assigned to the emergency department, each floor of the hospital, specialty pharmacy, cancer center, retail pharmacy, and the pharmacist managed anticoagulation clinic.
The ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital builds on the Doctor of Pharmacy education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
