The Ambulatory Care services offered at Franciscan Health are some of the most progressive in Indiana with a large variety of pharmacy services and pharmacist-managed clinics. Our PGY2 program prepares the Ambulatory Care Resident with the necessary training to practice effectively as an Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Specialist in a variety of work environments.
The purpose of this ASHP accredited residency is to prepare the trainee with the necessary skills to excel as an Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Specialist. Throughout the year, the resident will have opportunities for exposure to a variety of practice environments, including a pharmacist-managed pharmacotherapy clinic, Family Medicine/ Internal Medicine (PODS) Clinic, cardiology clinic, anticoagulation clinic, telehealth medicine and population health management. The resident will gain experience with chronic disease management for commonly encountered disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, heart failure, asthma/COPD, smoking cessation, and anticoagulation. The resident will also be actively involved with educational and medication management presentations to patients, providers, and staff in ambulatory clinics. Additionally, the resident will have opportunities to assist with the training and education of pharmacy students and PGY-1 Pharmacy Residents.
For 145 years, Franciscan Alliance has stayed true to our founding mission to care for everyone who comes through our doors. We treat our patients with the best possible care by following the guiding ethical values embodied by our founding congregation, the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration. Always mindful of our Christian stewardship to the Roman Catholic Church, we minister with joy, care and compassion according to the ideals of St. Francis of Assisi and our founder, Mother Maria Theresia Bonzel.
Our healthcare system carries forth Christ's healing ministry and strengthens the Catholic health care mission by:
Providing a broad, coordinated continuum of health care services with an emphasis on improving the health of persons and communities.
Treating the mind, body and spirit with holistic and comprehensive medical options.
Developing creative structures for health care delivery.
Being advocates for those in need.
Identifying and developing our sisters and laity for Franciscan leadership.
Our mission statement: Continuing Christ's Ministry in our Franciscan Tradition. Each day, we commit ourselves to practicing the words of our mission in how we care for our patients.
