NorthShore currently offers 10 positions in the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program, 3 positions in the PGY1 Community Residency program, and 1 position each in the PGY2 Oncology, PGY1/2 Pharmacy Informatics, PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership, and PGY2 Pharmacogenomics Residency Programs. All residents have opportunities to develop and reinforce clinical, practice management, and precepting skills to advance as well rounded practitioners.
Pharmacy Informatics Residency Description
The Pharmacy Informatics Residency at NorthShore University HealthSystem will prepare resident for a leadership role in medical informatics. The program is structured to offer a broad exposure to technology and informatics within the health system with an emphasis in clinical informatics. Residents will gain experience in systems evaluations, process re-design, project management, interdisciplinary teamwork, vendor relations, system testing and validations, change management, research, teaching and leadership. This is a 2 year program and is recruiting for the first year of the residency.

Specific schedules will be discussed. While staffing, residents are expected to provide comprehensive clinical services working closely with attending physicians and medical residents to ensure appropriate drug therapy. A working knowledge of medication-related systems is a driver of success in informatics.
The following are required for all candidates:
Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited program and successful completion of a PGY1 Pharmacy residency program prior to start date
Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician or Student Intern license (if a pharmacist license is not obtained prior to start of residency year)
Illinois Pharmacist Registration by August 15th of residency year
PhORCAS application, including curriculum vitae, letter of intent, transcript, and 3 letters of recommendation (at least 1 letter must be from an employer (preferably pharmacy employer))
On-site interview for selected candidates
This program is intended for pharmacists who plan to practice in the field of Medical Informatics for a healthcare provider organization. Applicants without previous informatics or technology experience will be considered. A strong history of project management and effective verbal and written communication is required.
