This Jewel-Osco Pharmacy Residency Program is based in the Chicago metropolitan area, home to world class dining, comedy, architecture, museums, festivals, and devoted sports fans. Longstanding disease state management programs, such as the Taking Control of your Health program with the City of Chicago, Eating Healthy with Diabetes, and our in-house diabetes management program allow the resident ample patient care opportunities.
Each resident of the Jewel-Osco program is assigned a home-base community pharmacy site where approximately 40% of their time is spent. The community sites in both Chicago and the surrounding suburbs have dedicated teams of experienced preceptors to mentor the resident through the year. Residents also spend time in the Division office in Itasca where leadership and management learning experiences take place.
Our advanced community-based patient care learning experiences are supplemented with ambulatory care-based patient care in clinics affiliated with each of our college partners: University of Illinois at Chicago, Midwestern University, and Rosalind Franklin University. Through our partnership with these colleges, the residents participate in teaching certificate programs and perform research on campus as well.
Unique aspects of this program include individualized training under a fulltime Patient Care Pharmacist as well as participation in several established employer-provided programs. Additionally, our residency leadership team is comprised of all past residents who provide valuable first-hand insight into residency learning experiences.
A competitive benefits package, paid vacation and holidays, and travel reimbursement for key national and regional conferences are provided.
