The Pharmacotherapy Residency includes core rotations and longitudinal experiences chosen to establish a strong clinical base across a variety of patient care areas in the inpatient and outpatient settings. The specific program for each resident may vary in structure and area of emphasis based upon the resident’s entry level of knowledge, skills and interest. The resident has the opportunity to gain additional experiences outside of the core rotations through electives of his/her choice. The Pharmacotherapy Resident will staff in the pediatric pharmacy during his/her first year, and in the medicine/surgery pharmacy during his/her second year. During the program, the resident must complete a self-directed research project in order to demonstrate proficiency in clinical research. The scope, magnitude and type of project may vary according to individual interests, but must be completed in a manner suitable for presentation and manuscript publication. The resident will also gain competence in teaching through our affiliation with the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. Both didactic and student precepting opportunities are available.
