Core Rotations

Marshall Health pharmacy residents complete nine core rotations that encompass the following specialty areas:

• Cardiology
• Community Pharmacy
• Endocrinology
• Family Medicine
• Gastroenterology
• Infectious Disease
• Internal Medicine
• Neurology
• Oncology
• Psychiatry
• Pulmonology 
• Rheumatology
• Research

Elective Rotations

The resident and residency director will agree upon two elective rotations such as addiction medicine, geriatrics, specialty pharmacy, transitions of care, and others based on interest.

Longitudinal Learning Experiences

Throughout the year, residents receive ongoing training in:

• Academics
• Pharmacy Management
• Professional Development
• Patient-Centered Medical Home
• Anticoagulation

Additional Education Requirements

• Yearlong research project
• 1-2 regional or state continuing education presentations
• Preparation of at least one manuscript suitable for publication
• Presentation at Regional Residency Conference
• Presentation at ASHP Midyear
• Presentation at Midyear Clinical Meeting
• Additional duties as assigned

Professional Conferences

• Midyear Clinical Meeting
• Eastern States Regional Residency Conference

Staffing Requirement

Resident staffing requirements entail working in the outpatient pharmacy on alternating weekends.

Our residents select a mentor to help ensure success during the year. We have a dedicated pharmacy department and residency program Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee focused on creating a department and residency class where everyone feels valued and can thrive in our organization.
