Corewell Health Grand Rapids Hospitals is our tertiary care medical center in Grand Rapids, Michigan and is a level one adult and pediatric trauma center comprised of three teaching hospitals- Butterworth Hospital, Blodgett Hospital, and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.
The Postgraduate Year Two (PGY-2) Ambulatory Care Residency at Corewell Health Grand Rapids Hospitals is a primary care focused residency that aims to enhance training gained through the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) educational experience and processes gained through a PGY1 pharmacy residency program allowing the development of clinical pharmacist skills in a specialized area of practice. Residents who successfully complete PGY2 pharmacy residency programs are prepared for advanced patient care practices, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification. Required learning experiences are comprised of six week rotations that occur in parallel with longitudinal focused core rotations. The longitudinal experiences include: Internal Medicine/Family Medicine Practices, Pharmacy Administration/Leadership, Service Commitment, and a Major Project. Required core experiences include Advanced Heart Failure clinic and Transitions of Care. The remainder of the experiences will be filled in with electives of Bone Marrow Transplant, Oncology, Primary Care with a focus in Chronic Pain Management, Academia/Research, Informatics, or Managed Care.
Qualified applicants are graduates of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited degree program (or one in process of pursuing accreditation) or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). At minimum, the program must be a five-year pharmacy degree program. Applicants must be eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in the state of Michigan within 90 days of hire.
For PGY2 programs, the applicant must be participating in, or have completed, an ASHP-accredited hospital Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency as evidence of a PharmAcademic inquiry and/or proof of certificate of completion prior to enrollment.
All pharmacy residency applications will be accepted through the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS).
