Pharmacy residents at The University of Kansas Health System - Olathe Hospital will have opportunities to practice in a variety of settings in a community non-profit hospital. The pharmacy department supports involvement in professional organizations and emphasizes opportunities in leadership as well as precepting and mentoring pharmacy students. Staffing obligations are balanced with one compensation day off within the month. Residents work closely with department leadership and gain experience in pharmacy management in addition to a variety of clinical practice specialties. Learning experiences are tailored to meet the needs and interests of the individual resident.
Olathe Hospital is part of The University of Kansas Health System and is a 230-bed comprehensive, acute care hospital serving southwest Kansas City and surrounding communities. Inpatient services include critical care, internal medicine, cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, neurology, spine surgery, nephrology, orthopedics, urology, labor and delivery and Level II neonatal intensive care. Outpatient services are extensive and include more than 40 provider clinics across the area. Olathe Hospital is very connected to the community participating in more than 150 events annually. Olathe Hospital is an accredited chest pain center, primary stroke center, a U.S. News High Performing Hospital in kidney failure, COPD, and stroke and a Fortune/Watson Health Top 100 Hospital. Olathe Hospital provides experiential training for pharmacy students from the University of Kansas, University of Missouri-Kansas City, University of Nebraska, and Drake University.
