The Emergency Medicine (EM) PGY2 residency program offered at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center provides extensive, hands-on training within the 56-bed Adult and Pediatric emergency departments where the resident is an integrated member of the interdisciplinary emergency medicine team. Residents complete core EM I-IV learning experiences, as well as required EM Leadership, Trauma, Critical Care, Pediatrics, Toxicology, and Infectious Disease experiences. The resident will present at monthly Pharmacy Education Conference, participate in ED committees and work groups, complete a longitudinal research project and create or revise one treatment guideline or protocol. Teaching opportunities include CME development, precepting PGY1 residents, and didactic responsibilities at Drake University. All experiences are individualized to meet each residents’ personal and professional goals.
The EM PGY2 program does NOT participate in PPS at ASHP Midyear, but will have representatives at the Midyear Showcase.
Applicants must be graduates of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy, eligible for licensure in the state of Iowa, and have completed or be currently pursuing an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy practice residency.
