SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - Madison is an ASHP - accredited program designed to develop residents' clinical knowledge through exposure to a wide variety of patient care settings. Participating residents will receive thorough training and gain valuable skills applicable to their future careers. We offer four PGY-1 resident positions each year and create a program that corresponds to our residents' specific needs and interests.
Required rotations in this health-system residency include Orientation, Pharmacotherapy Lab teaching, Adult Medical Critical Care, Antimicrobial Stewardship/Infectious Disease, Cardiology, General Medicine, Inpatient Operations, Pharmacy Administration, and one Ambulatory Care rotation (see options below). Longitudinal experiences include Education, Research Project, MUE Project, and Inpatient staffing. Elective inpatient rotations include Behavioral Health, Family Medicine, Neurology, Nutrition Support and Neonatal Intensive Care, Overnight critical care/trauma/medical surgical care, and Surgical Critical Care/ED. Elective ambulatory care/off-site rotations include Academia - University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy, Anticoagulation clinic, Oncology clinic, Primary care clinic, and Specialty pharmacy. A teaching certificate through the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy is also required.

Only applicants participating in the Resident Matching Program, graduating from an ACPE- accredited College of Pharmacy, and eligible for licensure in the state of Wisconsin will be considered for this program. Of note, SSM Health is not able to sponsor Visas for non-US citizens at this time.
All applicants must use the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS) system and submit the following: application, curriculum vitae, college of pharmacy transcripts, three letters of recommendation, letter of intent, and copies of two projects/presentations using the supplemental attachment in PhORCAS.
