Located just north of Atlanta, Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center (WKRMC) is a 633-bed community teaching facility and the largest hospital in Wellstar Health System’s network. The Level II Trauma Center features a new, state-of-the-art emergency department; a comprehensive stroke center; and a certified comprehensive cardiac center. We are recruiting three traditional and two non-traditional PGY1 pharmacy residents, one PGY2 Emergency Medicine resident and one PGY2 Pain Management and Palliative Care resident.
The PGY2 Pain Management and Palliative Care resident will train with our2022 ASHP Best Practice Awardwinning clinical pharmacy pain specialists.The pain specialists co-manage the complex pain management needs of hospitalized patients and perform daily prospective review for high-risk opioid therapies.
The residency program partners with Wellstar’s Palliative Medicine Fellowship program to provide an enhanced learning opportunity through interprofessional educational activities that include inpatient, outpatient, and at-home patient care services.

Additional learning activities include precepting pharmacy students, facilitating an ACPE-accredited pharmacy continuing education presentation, and participating in community naloxone (Narcan) training events.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS The applicant must be participating in, or have completed, an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency program or one in the ASHP accreditation process (i.e., one with candidate or preliminary accreditation status) AND be licensed by or eligible for licensure with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy. If not licensed at the start of residency, the candidate must secure a Georgia Pharmacy Intern license (fee paid by the residency program). The resident must be licensed as a pharmacist in the State of Georgia within 60 days of beginning the program.

References: At least one of the letters should be from a clinical rotation preceptor within the past 12 months. 4. *Required* Writing Sample Submission - this supplemental information must be provided within PhORCAS Writing Sample Expectations Applicants must submit a writing sample. The submission should be no longer than TWO pages. The submission should be a written description of any research project in progress or completed including your role, your research advisor’s name and title, primary outcomes, number of patients included, and final results if available.
INTERVIEW EXPECATIONS ON-SITE: Eligible applicants will be invited for an on-site facility tour and interview. VIRTUAL: Eligible applicants whose primary address is greater than 250 miles from Kennestone Hospital may request to participate in a virtual interview.
