BHD is a community hospital located in Madisonville, Kentucky. Unique to a hospital of this size, BHD has a strong emphasis on teaching and provides a family medicine residency training program, the University of Louisville School of Medicine Trover Campus, Madisonville Community College Nursing and Allied Health professions, and Murray State CRNA and MSN Nursing programs. These affiliations provide pharmacy residents a variety of teaching opportunities while completing the Teaching Certificate for Pharmacists offered by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). The program also offers the opportunity for pharmacy residents to precept students.

Residency Special Features: Residents will be exposed to a variety of learning experiences in ambulatory care, critical care, internal medicine, management, informatics, antimicrobial stewardship and will also have opportunity for physician led electives in endocrinology, cardiology, and nephrology. Residents will complete the ASHP Teaching Certificate Program for Pharmacists and be involved in didactic teaching of pharmacology classes for CRNA and APRN students. We utilize a layered learning model and expect residents to assist with precepting of PY4 students.

Special Requirements for Acceptance: Applicants must be US Citizens or have an active visa, graduated from an accredited college of pharmacy, and be eligible for KY Pharmacist Licensure. Applications should be completed via PhORCAS.
