The Department of Pharmacy at University Health in San Antonio, Texas, in collaboration with The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, the University of the Incarnate Word Feik School of Pharmacy, and Texas A&M College of Pharmacy is proud to offer 6-8 ASHP-Accredited Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency positions for July 1 - June 30 of the upcoming residency year. Candidates must have received a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited college of pharmacy and have a strong desire to strengthen their clinical, academic, research, and leadership skills.
As full-time employees of University Health, residents receive a competitive annual stipend of $57,000 plus excellent employee benefits. Residents are also appointed as Clinical Instructors with The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, University of the Incarnate Word Feik School of Pharmacy, and Texas A&M College of Pharmacy.
The University Health PGY1 pharmacy residency program provides a challenging, well-rounded training environment, with a wide range of experiences among diverse patient populations in both inpatient and ambulatory care areas in a large academic health system. Graduates of the program will be prepared for a PGY2 specialty pharmacy residency, employment as a clinical pharmacist within a health system, and/or an adjunctive pharmacy faculty position.
Program representatives will be available at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy Affiliated Programs Showcase booths 4167 and 4175 on MONDAY from 1-4pm.
Application Requirements
In order to be considered for this residency, the applicant must:
Possess a strong interest in clinical pharmacy practice
Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident
Be enrolled in or complete an ACPE-accredited PharmD degree program
Participate in the ASHP Resident Matching Program
Once accepted into the residency program, candidates should submit a completed UHS Job Application by May 1 and obtain a Registered Pharmacist License in the state of Texas by August 1.
