Manatee Memorial Hospital (MMH) provides advanced level PGY1 training in an acute care community-based hospital. Residents are part of the graduate medical education (GME) program and will develop skills to successfully provide evidence-based, patient-centered medication therapy management through a variety of integrated practice experiences, with an emphasis in cardiology, critical care, infectious diseases, internal medicine, medication safety, nutritional therapy, and pharmacokinetics. Interdisciplinary team rounding occurs in both a community practice model and a more traditional academic model with GME teaching faculty.
MMH is a 295 bed hospital located on the banks of the Manatee River. We are a Certified Stroke Center, Chest Pain Center, and offer advanced Cardiovascular and Orthopedic services. The pharmacy department is decentralized, including pharmacist work spaces/offices on the patient care units including in Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Medical-Surgical areas, and an OR/Surgery pharmacy satellite. We involve our pharmacy residents in a layered learning teaching model, as our pharmacists precept students and interns from several colleges and schools of pharmacy.
