UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital is a 357-bed, full-service, non-profit hospital serving the greater Rockford region, northern Illinois, and southern Wisconsin. UW Health SwedishAmerican is also a teaching hospital that hosts the University of Illinois College of Medicine's residency program. Clinical pharmacists are assigned to the emergency department, each floor of the hospital, specialty pharmacy, cancer center, primary care clinics, retail pharmacy, infusion services, and the pharmacist-managed anticoagulation clinic.

The ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital builds on the Doctor of Pharmacy education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

Program Information:

• Number of Positions: 2
• Start Date: last week of June
• Staffing/Clinical Pharmacy Services: every other weekend, partial PM shift every other week, 2 holidays
• Annual Stipend: $52,200

Program Requirements:

• Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy
• Eligible for Illinois licensure
• US Citizen or permanent resident of the United States

 Required Residency Activities:

• BLS/ACLS/PALS certification
• Hospital committee involvement
• Grand Rounds
• Design and complete a residency project
• Complete medication use evaluations (MUEs)
• ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting poster presentation and Regional Pharmacy Resident Conference presentation
• Optional Teaching Certificate
