The residents are integrated into the pharmacy and healthcare team and build upon their didactic and practical experiences to develop expert knowledge in clinical patient care, medication use systems, and administrative areas of pharmacy practice. Additionally, this year will develop skills in leadership and management, research, project management, teaching, amongst others. The ultimate goal of the residency program and the teaching model at Memorial Hospital West is to develop residents into clinicians and leaders with the knowledge and experience to become confident and integral members of a healthcare team and Department of Pharmacy. Residents will be required to complete Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Pain Management, Cardiology, and Administration and Leadership learning experiences. Longitudinal experiences include Pharmacy Practice – Staffing, Clinical Management, Medication Safety, and Residency Research. Electives offered include Neurology/Neurocritical Care, Hematology/Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Automation/Informatics, Investigational Drug Services, Ambulatory Care, Transitions of Care, Specialty Pharmacy, Executive Leadership, and Leadership in Medication Safety.

PharmD degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy and be eligible for licensure in the state of Florida

PGY1 International Resident requires a SACM (Saudi Arabia Cultural Mission) scholarship and must be eligible for post-completion Optional Practical Training under student F-1 Visa. The international resident will be employed by Nova Southeastern university and complete their residency program at Memorial Hospital West. Services provided include cardiac catheterization lab, Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center, oncology and bone marrow transplantation (Moffitt Malignant Hematology and Cellular Therapy at Memorial Healthcare System), active oncology research program, dynamic Emergency Department and Intensive Care unit, amongst other services. Memorial Healthcare System is ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) Accredited, and Memorial Hospital West provides medical residency training in Internal Medicine. The Pharmacy Department provides fully decentralized clinical and specialist services throughout the facility, including dispensing pharmacy satellites for oncology/BMT and NICU/obstetrics. The Pharmacy Department is actively involved in multidisciplinary patient care, as well as facility and district-wide committees.
