Residency Showcase Program Listings

The ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency is a 12 month program.  Clinical rotations are offered in a wide variety of specialties and are tailored to the individual resident.  While on clinical services, the resident’s responsibilities include working with the medical staff through participation in daily rounds, monitoring drug therapy, providing pharmacokinetic recommendations, and attending various meetings.   Other responsibilities include completion of a major research project that is presented at the ASHP Midyear Meeting and the regional residency conference, multiple presentations, and assisting with the education of pharmacy students from several colleges of pharmacy.  The resident will also be involved with various hospital committees including P&T.

As a pharmacy resident, in addition to rotation responsibilities, you are afforded the opportunity to be a member of the hospital’s pharmacy staff and serve as a pharmacist in the department.  Residents receive full MDMC employee benefits including insurance, sick time, and vacation.  Travel support is provided for the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and the regional residency conference.

The ASHP-accredited residency program is designed to provide residents expanded involvement in those areas where special interests exist.  Our unique size and organizational structure provide an ideal learning environment for pharmacy residents.  MDMC provides a variety of exceptional clinical programs and services, including multi-organ transplantation, neurology, cardiology, adult internal medicine, critical care,  emergency medicine, and antimicrobial stewardship.

In order to be considered for the residency program at Methodist Dallas Medical Center, you must complete each of the following steps:

1. Register for the ASHP Resident Matching Program natmatch.com/ashprmp/appllanding.html
2. Utilizing the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS) submit the following: 
   1. Current curriculum vitae 
   2. Letter of intent for pursing a residency program
   3. Three references - Please have references complete the PhORCAS reference template
   4. An official copy of the college of pharmacy transcripts

Requirements for Acceptance

Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy, eligibility for employment by the hospital and full Texas licensure within 120 days of employment, participation in the residency matching program, and an interview.

The above items must be submitted via PhORCAS by January 6, 2025.
