The postgraduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency at Plainview Hospital offers residents the opportunity to accelerate professional growth beyond entry-level proficiency. The 12-month accredited program enhances skills in managing medication-use systems and supports optimal medication therapy outcomes for patients with a broad range of illnesses.
Residents will experience unit-based pharmacy practice during the course of each clinical rotation and will be involved in direct patient care. They will work collaboratively with a pharmacist, medical team and other healthcare providers, and will serve as a drug information resource. Rotations will be tailored to the resident’s field of interest and American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) requirements.
This program prepares residents to assume positions as direct patient care clinicians, serve as adjunct or full-time faculty for a college of pharmacy or pursue a PGY2 residency in a focused area of practice.
