Our Institution
North Shore University hospital (NSUH) is one of the cornerstones of Northwell Health. It offers a wide range of specialty and subspecialty residency programs, postgraduate training programs and clinical fellowships for research and education. The hospital is a 806 bed teaching hospital on the 58-acre Sandra Atlas Bass Campus. NSUH provides leading-edge care in all medical specialties, including open-heart surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, urology, maternal-fetal medicine, first and only kidney transplant center in Nassau and Queens Counties and the first and only full-service destination for heart transplantation in Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island and across all of Northwell. North Shore is also home to Long Island’s first adult liver transplant program which commenced in 2019.
Our Program
The ASHP-accredited PGY-1 pharmacy residency program at NSUH is a twelve-month program with a focus on in-patient centered - medication therapy management. The goal of the PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at NSUH is to offer a pharmacist the opportunity to accelerate their growth beyond entry-level professional competence. The resident will have the opportunity to further develop their proficiency and skills, with a program tailored to their interest and needs.

Groundbreaking organ transplantation services—We perform heart, kidney and liver transplants. Our Heart Hospital was the first on Long Island ...to perform a heart transplant; we are the only hospital providing the full range of heart transplant services, from preoperative care to recovery, in Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island.
